Google Positive Review Response Template
A Google positive review response does three things at once: it rewards the reviewer for their time, signals to Google's algorithm that your Business Profile is actively managed, and tells every future searcher who reads it exactly what kind of experience to expect. The biggest mistake is the generic response — "Thank you for your amazing review!" on every 5-star is immediately recognisable as copy-paste and does the opposite of what a genuine response achieves. This template makes every response feel personal.
THE TEMPLATE
Ready to Copy
Copy, customize, and use it as-is — or make it your own.
Hi [REVIEWER NAME],
Thank you so much — this genuinely means a lot to us.
[REFERENCE ONE SPECIFIC THING FROM THEIR REVIEW: a service they mentioned, a staff member by name, a dish, a detail they noticed.]
We work hard to [YOUR KEY VALUE], and knowing it came through in your experience makes it all worthwhile. We'd love to see you again soon!

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — Short (for brief reviews)
[REVIEWER NAME], this made the whole team smile — thank you! [Specific reference.] See you again soon!
Version 2 — New customer angle (when they mention it's their first visit)
Hi [REVIEWER NAME], so glad your first visit was a great one! [Specific reference.] We hope this is the start of many visits — you're always welcome here.
WHEN TO USE
Use this for any 4 or 5-star Google review with written text. For 5-star reviews with no text, a two-sentence response is enough: "Thank you for the 5 stars, [NAME]! We hope to see you again soon." For negative Google reviews, use the Google negative review response template.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
Google indexes your review responses — include your service type and city naturally if it fits: "so glad your visit to our [service] in [city] was a great experience." Don't force it, but it's a light local SEO signal when it reads naturally.
Keep it under 100 words. Google shows a truncated preview in search results — the key message needs to land in the first 2 sentences.
Rotate your openers — don't start every response with "Thank you so much." Vary between "This made our day," "We really appreciate this," "So glad to hear this" to avoid identical-response patterns.
For 4-star reviews, acknowledge any implicit gap: "We noticed you mentioned [minor critique] — we'll keep working on that. Thank you for the honest feedback."
Do Google review responses help local SEO ranking?
Directly, the evidence is mixed. Indirectly, yes — active management of your Google Business Profile is a positive signal, review response rate is tracked, and the text in your responses can contribute to keyword relevance for local queries. The primary value, though, is conversion: a well-responded-to profile converts searchers to customers at a higher rate than an unresponsive one.
Can I edit a Google review response after posting it?
Yes — you can edit or delete your response at any time via your Google Business Profile. The original response date stays visible. If you made a mistake or want to update it after a situation is resolved, editing is available under Reviews in your dashboard.
What if the positive review contains mild criticism alongside praise?
Acknowledge both — it shows you read the whole review. "We're so glad [positive aspect] hit the mark. We took note of your comment about [minor issue] — we're always looking to improve on that." This reads as genuine rather than selective.
