  • Don't start your response with "We're sorry you feel that way" — this is universally recognized as dismissive. Acknowledge the actual experience, not their feelings about it.

  • Google indexes your review responses — avoid repeating negative keywords (e.g., "we're sorry about the mold"). Keep the language neutral while still addressing the issue.

  • One response only — if they reply aggressively, respond once more calmly and don't engage further publicly.

Can I get a negative Google review removed?

Only if it violates Google's review policies (spam, fake, off-topic, or contains prohibited content). Flag it through your Google Business Profile. Google will review within a few days but only removes reviews that clearly violate policy — most stay up. Responding professionally is more reliable than hoping for removal.

Should I apologize even if the review is wrong?

You can acknowledge the experience without admitting fault. "We're sorry your experience didn't match the standard we set" is not the same as "you're right, we failed." Empathy without admission is the right balance when you believe the review is inaccurate.

What if the review was left by a competitor or bot?
