How does TripAdvisor rank restaurants?
The Popularity Index is TripAdvisor's ranking system, based on: recency of reviews, quantity of reviews, quality (average rating), and management engagement (response rate and quality). A restaurant with 50 recent reviews and 95% response rate will rank above one with 200 older reviews and no responses.
Does it matter if my TripAdvisor responses are in English when my diners write in other languages?
It matters — TripAdvisor shows reviews and responses in the user's language where possible. If you can respond in the reviewer's language, do so.
