Professional Services Review Request Email Template
Professional services review requests are different from retail or hospitality requests: the relationship is longer, more personal, and the stakes of the work are higher. Asking for a review too early (before the project outcome is clear) produces lower-quality reviews. Asking after a clear win — a tax return filed successfully, a project delivered on time, a problem definitively solved — produces the kind of detailed, credible reviews that convert the highest-value clients. This template is timed for that moment.
THE TEMPLATE

Subject: A quick favour — would you mind sharing your experience?
Hi [CLIENT NAME],
Now that [MILESTONE: the project is wrapped / your [work type] is complete / we've got you to where you needed to be], I wanted to reach out with a quick ask.
If you've been happy with the work, an honest Google review would genuinely help other [business owners / clients / people in your situation] find us. For a [small / specialist / independent] firm like ours, it makes a real difference.

No pressure at all — but if you have two minutes, it would mean a lot.

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — From the individual consultant or advisor (personal relationship)
Subject: [CLIENT NAME], a quick ask
Hi [CLIENT NAME], it's been a pleasure working with you on [PROJECT/MATTER]. Now that [milestone], I have a small favour to ask — if you've been happy with the work, an honest Google review would help other clients in similar situations find me: [LINK]. Completely understand if now isn't the right time. Thank you!
Version 2 — Agency or multi-service firm
Subject: We'd love your feedback on [PROJECT NAME]
Hi [CLIENT NAME], we've really enjoyed working on [PROJECT] with your team. If the experience has been a positive one, we'd be grateful for a Google review — it helps other businesses find us: [LINK]. And if there's anything we could have done better, we'd love to hear that directly too.
WHEN TO USE
Send within 48–72 hours of a major project milestone or completion — the moment when the client's satisfaction is at its highest and the outcome is clear. For recurring services (monthly accounting, retained consulting), ask after a tangible win (tax filing, project launch, problem solved) rather than on a fixed schedule. For law firms, see the law firm note on ethical constraints before requesting reviews.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
"No pressure at all" is a phrase that actually increases response rates for professional services — it removes the transactional feel and signals confidence. Clients respond to asks that don't feel like obligations.
Reference the specific milestone ("now that your accounts are filed", "now that the campaign is live") — it connects the review request to the concrete outcome they're pleased about.
For B2B professional services: acknowledge that your client may need to check internally before leaving a review about the project. "If you need to check with your team first, completely understand" can be added to Version 2.
Always offer a private feedback channel alongside the review request — "And if there's anything we could have done better, we'd love to hear that directly" intercepts any dissatisfaction before it becomes public.
Is it appropriate for professional services firms to ask for reviews?
Yes — with the exception of law firms in some jurisdictions (see the law firm template for ethics guidance). Accountants, consultants, marketing agencies, architects, financial advisors, and other professional services firms can and should ask satisfied clients for reviews. It's standard practice and expected by clients who genuinely valued the work.
What's the best review platform for professional services firms?
Google is universally valuable for local search and credibility. LinkedIn recommendations are separately important for B2B professional services — they appear on your firm's LinkedIn Page and your individual consultant profiles, and carry weight with business decision-makers. For niche services (marketing agencies → Clutch; accountants → specific accounting directories; consultants → Expertise.com), platform-specific reviews may be more targeted than Google.
How soon is too soon to ask for a professional services review?
Before the outcome is clear is too soon. A mid-project request produces reviews that feel hedged. The sweet spot is immediately after a tangible outcome — the filing is done, the site is launched, the deal is closed. That's when the client's gratitude is at its peak and the review they write will be the most specific and credible.
