Restaurant Positive Review Response Template
A glowing restaurant review is word-of-mouth marketing in permanent, searchable form. How you respond to it amplifies that signal: it tells the reviewer their voice mattered, it tells future diners what specific experiences to expect, and it humanizes your restaurant beyond the menu. The best restaurant positive review responses reference the specific dish, staff member, or moment the diner highlighted — and leave them genuinely excited to return.

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — Mentioning a chef or dish
Hi [REVIEWER NAME]! Sharing your review with our kitchen team right now — [CHEF NAME] will be thrilled to hear the [dish] was a highlight. Feedback like this is what keeps us pushing to be better. Can't wait to see you again soon!
Version 2 — For a special occasion visit
Hi [REVIEWER NAME], thank you for celebrating your [occasion] with us! It was our pleasure to be a part of it. We hope the [meal / evening / experience] was everything you hoped for. We'd love to be your go-to spot for every special moment — see you again soon!
WHEN TO USE
Use for any 4 or 5-star restaurant review with a written comment. Respond within a week. For Yelp specifically, check the Yelp response guidelines — avoid using first and last name of reviewers (Yelp only shows first name + last initial). For TripAdvisor, slightly longer responses are expected and rewarded.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
Pass the review to the kitchen or front-of-house team in your daily briefing — when the chef or server reads their name mentioned positively, it boosts morale and reminds the whole team why the details matter.
Don't use the same response twice — even a small variation in the specific sentence changes the entire feel. Yelp and TripAdvisor can detect repeated responses and it signals inauthenticity.
Reference the season or a current menu item if the review is recent: "So glad you loved the summer menu — our new [dish] launches next week, which we think you'll enjoy."
End with a genuine invitation back, not a promotional offer. "You're always at home here" works better than "use code GUEST10 on your next visit."
Should I respond to TripAdvisor restaurant reviews differently?
Yes — TripAdvisor travelers are often decision-making for future trips and read responses closely before booking. Longer, more detailed responses (150–250 words) work well on TripAdvisor, including details about the restaurant's story, seasonal menu, or location. On Google and Yelp, keep responses shorter and more conversational.
What if someone leaves a 5-star review but makes a mistake in it?
Gently clarify without embarrassing them: "We're so glad you loved the branzino — just a small note, that was actually our [correct dish name] rather than [what they called it], but we're thrilled it was the highlight!" Warmly delivered corrections make your response memorable and authentic.
Can I share positive reviews on social media?
Yes — and you should. Screenshot or share reviews (with the reviewer's username, not their photo) on your Instagram stories and Facebook page. Tag Google or Yelp in the post. User-generated content from reviews is among the most trusted social proof available for restaurants.
