Dental Positive Review Response Template
Positive dental review responses seem straightforward until you remember that HIPAA applies — even to thank-you messages. You cannot confirm the person is a patient, cannot reference their procedure, and cannot imply a clinical relationship. Despite these constraints, you still need to respond in a way that feels warm and personal, because positive review responses on your Google Business Profile are read by anxious potential patients who are deciding whether to book an appointment with a stranger. This template stays compliant while still resonating.

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — Anxious patient who mentions comfort (very common in dental reviews)
Dear [REVIEWER NAME], thank you so much for this — it made our whole team smile. We know visiting the dentist can feel daunting for many people, so knowing you felt comfortable and well cared for means everything to us. We look forward to seeing you next time!
Version 2 — Review praising a specific staff member by name (non-clinically)
Dear [REVIEWER NAME], thank you for the kind words — and especially for mentioning [STAFF NAME]. We'll make sure they see this; it will mean a great deal. Our team is the heart of what we do at [PRACTICE NAME] and it's wonderful to have that recognised. See you next time!
WHEN TO USE
Use for any 4 or 5-star review of your dental practice. The most common themes in positive dental reviews are: friendly/gentle staff, feeling comfortable, efficient appointments, and clean/modern facilities. Reference any of these non-clinically in your response. For Google-specific formatting, see Google dental review response template.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
"We know visiting the dentist can feel daunting" is a powerful non-clinical acknowledgement — dental anxiety is near-universal and acknowledging it in a positive review response signals empathy to every future patient reading your profile.
Reference the non-clinical aspects of the experience: the front desk team, the atmosphere, the comfort, the wait time, the communication. All are safe. The clinical procedure is not.
Never say "we're so glad the [procedure] went well" — this confirms treatment. "We're so glad the visit went well" is safe.
For multi-dentist practices: if the reviewer mentions a specific dentist by name, have that dentist's name in the sign-off if possible — it personalises the response and reinforces the individual patient-provider relationship.
Why do dental reviews often mention anxiety or fear?
Dental anxiety affects 36% of the population to some degree, with 12% experiencing extreme fear. Patients who overcame their anxiety to visit and had a positive experience are highly motivated to leave reviews as a way of helping others in the same situation. These reviews are among your most valuable — respond to them warmly and specifically.
Can I use positive review responses to attract new patients?
Yes — your Google Business Profile review section is read by potential patients comparing dental practices. A positive review with a warm, confident response tells them: this practice is engaged, the patients feel valued, and the team communicates well. It's one of the most effective (and free) forms of patient acquisition.
Should I respond to reviews left on Healthgrades or Zocdoc differently?
Healthcare review platforms like Healthgrades, Zocdoc, and RateMDs have their own response systems and the same HIPAA rules apply. Some platforms require you to claim your profile before responding. The same non-clinical response framework works across all of them.
