Google Review Request SMS Template
Asking for a Google review via SMS is the fastest-converting review request method available — open rates above 90%, read within 3 minutes, and direct link click-through of 15–25% for well-timed requests. The secret is three things: the customer's first name, a direct Google review link (not a homepage link), and sending within hours of the visit. This template is written to hit all three.

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — No emoji, professional
Hi [NAME], thank you for choosing [BUSINESS NAME]. A quick Google review would really help us out — here's the link: [GOOGLE REVIEW LINK]. We appreciate it!
Version 2 — From a named person
Hi [NAME], [YOUR NAME] from [BUSINESS NAME] here. Thanks so much for coming in! If you have a sec, a Google review would mean a lot to us: [LINK]. Thank you!
WHEN TO USE
Send within 1–4 hours of a completed service, appointment, or visit — while the experience is still fresh. This is the single most important variable in SMS review request conversion. Use your Google Business Profile direct review link (not a search link) to minimize friction. For email-based Google review requests, see the Google review request email template.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
Get your direct Google review link from Google Business Profile → Customers → Reviews → Get more reviews → Share review form. This skips the search step entirely.
Use a URL shortener — Google review URLs are long and eat into your 160-character SMS limit. bit.ly or a custom short domain keeps it clean.
Don't send after 8pm — even if the service was evening-based. Early next morning (8–9am) is a better alternative for evening services.
For healthcare, legal, or financial businesses, ensure you have documented SMS consent from the patient/client before sending.
How is this different from a general review request SMS?
This template links directly to Google (vs a general review request which might link to multiple platforms or your website). Google-specific requests tend to convert better because there's only one destination — the customer knows exactly what they're clicking on. Use this when Google is your primary review platform. Use the general review request SMS template if you want to leave the platform flexible.
What if my customer doesn't have a Google account?
Google requires a Google account to leave a review. Most smartphone users have one, but some don't. For customers who can't leave a Google review, having a secondary platform (Yelp, Facebook) as a fallback is useful. You can mention this in a follow-up: "No Google account? You can also review us on [PLATFORM]: [LINK]."
Can I use this template for bulk sends to past customers?
Yes, but segment carefully — only send to customers who are likely to have had a positive experience. A bulk SMS to your entire list including unhappy customers will generate a mix of positive and negative reviews. Triggered post-visit sends are safer and convert better than bulk campaigns.
