Google Review Request Email Template
Google reviews directly affect how your business ranks in local search results. A business with 50 reviews and a 4.6 rating will consistently outrank a business with 10 reviews and a 4.9 — Google's algorithm rewards review volume and recency. This template gives you the simplest possible email to send after a positive interaction: short, honest, and with a direct link to your Google review page so the customer doesn't have to search for it.

More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — Even Shorter (SMS-length copy in email format)
Subject: Quick favor?
Hi [NAME] — hope your [visit/appointment/order] was great. If you have a minute, a Google review would mean a lot to us: [LINK]. Thank you! — [YOUR NAME]
Version 2 — With Social Proof Hook
Subject: Help others find [BUSINESS NAME]
Hi [CUSTOMER NAME], thanks for choosing us. We're on a mission to become the go-to [SERVICE TYPE] in [CITY], and Google reviews help us get there. If you had a great experience, we'd be grateful if you shared it: [GOOGLE LINK]. It only takes a minute — and it helps other [local families / customers / patients] find us. Thank you!
WHEN TO USE
Send this within 48 hours of a completed service, purchase, or visit. Trigger it automatically from your booking or POS system if possible. The higher the recency, the higher the conversion rate — a customer who visited a week ago is 4x less likely to leave a review than one who visited yesterday.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
Get your Google review link from your Google Business Profile dashboard — it's a direct link that skips the search step. Put it in the email as a button or hyperlinked text, not a raw URL.
Mention your city and service type in the email body — it reminds the customer why this review matters locally and makes the ask feel less transactional.
Don't ask for a "5-star review" — this violates Google's guidelines. Just ask for an honest review.
From name matters — send from your first name, not the business name. "Sarah from [BUSINESS]" gets higher open rates than "[BUSINESS NAME] Team".
Where do I get my Google review link?
Go to your Google Business Profile (business.google.com), click "Get more reviews", and copy the review link. It looks like: g.page/yourbusiness/review. You can also search your business name on Google and click "Write a review" — then copy that URL.
Can I send this email to all my past customers?
You can, but segment carefully. Only send to customers who are likely to have had a positive experience. A blast to your entire list including unhappy customers can generate a wave of negative reviews. Triggered post-visit emails to recent customers are safer and convert better.
What's a good click-through rate for review request emails?
5–15% click-through is typical for a personalized, well-timed review request email. Bulk campaigns average lower (1–4%). Personalized, trigger-based emails sent within 24–48 hours of a visit often exceed 20%.
