Facebook Review Response Template
Facebook doesn't call them "reviews" anymore — they're "recommendations" (Yes/No with optional text). But the stakes are the same: potential customers browse your Facebook Page before deciding whether to visit or buy, and your responses to recommendations are visible to their entire social network, not just people searching your category. Facebook's social context means responses can be slightly warmer and more community-oriented than Google or Yelp.

TEMPLATE VARIATIONS
More Ways to Use It
Same structure, different tone. Pick the one that fits the situation.
Version 1 — Positive recommendation, community tone
Hi [REVIEWER NAME]! Thank you for recommending us — this genuinely made our day. [Specific reference.] We're so grateful to have customers like you in our community. Hope to see you again very soon! 🙌
Version 2 — Negative recommendation (via Page message prompt)
Hi [REVIEWER NAME], thank you for being honest. We're genuinely sorry your experience fell short of what we aim to deliver. [Specific acknowledgement.] We'd really appreciate the chance to speak with you — please send us a direct message and we'll make this right.
WHEN TO USE
Use for any Facebook recommendation on your Business Page. Note that on Facebook, you can also respond to negative recommendations by messaging the person privately — use the public response to acknowledge the issue and invite a private conversation, which resolves it more effectively than a public thread. For restaurant-specific Facebook responses, see the restaurant Facebook review response template.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
Facebook has a social, community tone — slightly warmer and less formal than Google. Emojis are acceptable if they fit your brand voice. A ❤️ or 🙏 reads as authentic, not unprofessional, in this context.
On Facebook, you can "like" a recommendation in addition to responding — do this for positive recommendations as a lightweight acknowledgement when you don't have time to write a full response.
Negative Facebook recommendations can be hidden (but not deleted unless they violate Facebook's community standards). Hiding is not recommended — it often prompts the reviewer to escalate. Responding professionally is better.
Tag your business in your response only if it's natural — it can increase visibility of the exchange in your followers' feeds.
Can I respond to Facebook recommendations if I've turned off the feature?
If you've disabled Facebook recommendations on your Page, existing recommendations remain but new ones can't be added. You can still respond to existing ones. Note that disabling recommendations removes a social proof signal — only do this if you have a specific reason, as it can look suspicious to potential customers.
Is a Facebook recommendation the same as a Facebook review?
Facebook rebranded "Reviews" to "Recommendations" in 2019. The format changed from a 1–5 star rating to a Yes/No recommendation with optional text. You can only "recommend" a business (not leave a mixed or negative star rating) — so negative feedback comes as a "No" recommendation with text. The response strategy is the same: acknowledge, empathise, move to private resolution.
Do Facebook recommendations show up in Google search results?
Not directly, but your Facebook Page and its aggregate rating can appear in Google search results for your business name. Maintaining a high recommendation rate on Facebook contributes to your overall online reputation profile.
